Bonnie is an approximately 5 year old English Bulldog mix weighing just under 40 pounds. She came to us from Stanislaus Animal Services after being placed on the euthanasia list, and it was immediately clear that this little girl had been through far more than she ever should have.

Bonnie arrived fearful, shut down, and unsure of the people around her. She has signs of a difficult past, including what appears to be an at home C section scar, and we believe she has experienced abuse and neglect. Medically, she also came to us in rough shape. Bonnie is dealing with severe skin issues, Giardia, mycoplasma, anemia, and tapeworms, and she is receiving the treatment and veterinary care she needs to begin healing.

Even with everything she has endured, Bonnie is already showing us just how resilient she is. We are taking things slowly, allowing her to set the pace, and earning her trust one day at a time. Every small moment of comfort, curiosity, or connection feels like a huge step forward for a dog who has had so many reasons to be afraid.

Bonnie is not available for adoption at this time. Right now, her only job is to heal. She is safe in our care, receiving treatment, good food, patience, comfort, and the kind of love that asks nothing from her in return.

We do not know everything Bonnie experienced before she came to us, but we do know what her life looks like now. She will be protected. She will be cared for. She will be given the time she needs to feel safe again, and we will be beside her through every step of her recovery.

Bonnie has already survived so much. Now she finally gets the chance to learn that people can be kind, home can feel safe, and she never has to face the hard things alone again.
