Buddy Bear is a 15 year old male Pit Bull who came to us from Devore Shelter after spending what should have been his golden years in a place no senior dog deserves to be.

At his age, Buddy Bear has been through a lot. He has painful joints and bones, pancreatitis, spondylosis, and several masses that we are currently having evaluated. We are awaiting cytology results so we can better understand what is going on and make the most compassionate decisions for him moving forward.

For now, Buddy Bear is receiving palliative care focused entirely on his comfort, happiness, and quality of life. He is getting the medications, veterinary care, soft places to rest, good food, attention, and love he needs while we make sure every day he has with us feels safe and peaceful.

Buddy Bear may be a hospice dog, but his story is not only about being sick. It is about finally being cared for. It is about an old dog getting to rest without fear, feel loved without conditions, and spend this chapter of his life surrounded by people who will never give up on him.

We do not know exactly how much time Buddy Bear has, and right now that is not what matters most. What matters is that his remaining time is filled with comfort, dignity, kindness, and all the love we can possibly give him.

He spent far too many years giving pieces of himself to the world. Now it is our turn to give everything back to him.

Buddy Bear is safe, he is loved, and for however long he needs us, he will never face anything alone again.
